Erin O’Malley understands the connection between strong leadership, engaged teams, and loyal customers. Ten years in hospitality leadership proved the perfect playground to hone her leadership expertise and teach her a thing or two about customer experience.

Looking for a new audience to lead, she headed to Panama to serve as a Community Economic Development Volunteer in the Peace Corps. From drawing pictures in the sand, when it was the only medium available, to enabling community leaders to earn micro-financing, two-plus years living on an island of 300 people gave Erin a new perspective on work, leadership, and what makes people tick.

In all of her work roles, in all of the places she’s lived, and in all of the characters she’s encountered, she discovered there was a common thread that tied the places, people, and possibility together: the power of human connection.

Since her return from her Panamanian adventure, she’s broadened her facilitation and consultation work out to other industries. From BMW to Delta Airlines, The Kennedy Center to AvisBudgetGroup – the more organizations, leaders, and frontline teams insist their problems are unique, the more evidence Erin discovers that the traits that connect us are universal.

Erin practices what she preaches in her keynote presentations and workshops, connecting with her audiences through her contagious energy. Her work focuses on giving people the tools and inspiration they need to imagine what’s possible and discover their impact.

Keynote:

The Power of Human Connection

In this keynote, Erin brings her Connection Framework to life. Participants explore how staying curious, genuinely caring, and controlling how we show up are the vital skills it takes to create connection. They’ll learn how asking questions, practicing empathy, and taking agency in their roles creates cultures and experiences where people are seen, heard, and understood.

Erin calls out connection crashers: the words we say, the habits we do, the actions we take that slowly go to crack connection. With this awareness, participants then experience the opportunities and possibilities that open up when they embrace fostering connection within their client relationships and teams.

Through storytelling and audience interaction, Erin calls people up to embrace their role in creating connection and the impact it has on engagement, loyalty, and strengthening relationships.

(Take-aways) During this keynote, participants will:

  • Identify the biggest mistake we make in listening and how to solve it.
  • Explore what empathy is really about and how to embrace it in your relationships to create understanding and connection.
  • Dispel myths about “choosing your attitude” and get real, practical techniques to show up fully, ready to engage and impact.

Workshop/Breakout Session:

Deflate, Relate, Elevate, the formula to create magic out of mayhem.

A connected work culture promotes ownership, action, and collaboration. However, even with the best-laid plans, disconnect happens. Misunderstandings occur. Drama ensues. Time is wasted. Confusion takes over. Relationships suffer.

The good news–there is another way! In this workshop, you will learn how to apply the Deflate, Relate, Elevate formula to reach true understanding, create connection, and build strong relationships. Discover how disconnections and misunderstanding provide an opportunity for greater engagement, cohesion, and peace when you apply the Deflate, Relate, and Elevate formula.

(Take-aways) What You Can Expect:

  • Experience what it’s like to truly feel heard by practicing curious listening. We’ll challenge active listening myths and get to the heart of engaged listening during our Story Session activity.
  • Discover the true meaning of empathy and explore how to develop and use empathy as a skill set for connection and collaboration.
  • Learn how to embrace tough conversations and relieve the pressure of having to be the problem solver and fixer for all scenarios.

If you want:

  • Stronger, effective, and powerful communication with your team and colleagues,
  • Less drama and more ownership of responsibilities, and…
  • A formula to get ahead of misunderstandings and miscommunications and turn misfires into opportunities for stronger and powerful relationships…the Deflate, Relate, Elevate is the workshop for you.

Workshop/Breakout Session:

Connected Conversations: A framework for candid and impactful coaching conversations.

Do you find yourself repeating the same request to your team over and over again, yet never see the behavior change you hope? Does your team nod their head in agreement, yet do nothing different when you ask them to? Does your team ask for performance reviews and feedback, and you give them a pat on the back because who has time to think about all of that?

If that sounds familiar, the Connected Conversations Workshop is for your leadership team. During this workshop, leaders and managers will cover the techniques and dynamics behind giving and receiving effective feedback. Participants will explore how the Intention, Impact, and Input framework is used as a blueprint for preparing, practicing, and delivering coaching conversations that create buy-in and lasting change.

(Take-aways) What You Can Expect:

  • Discover how to create an environment for impactful conversations, including how to prepare and frame a conversation that inspires true behavior change and commitment.
  • Learn how to practice inquiry and questioning techniques to get a greater understanding of the situation, possible misconceptions, and how to get input for change.
  • Explore how curiosity, empathy, and the power of the pause are skills that lead to collaboration, increased communication, and innovation.
  • Learn how to handle emotional responses, resistance, lack of agreement, and other ways feedback conversations can go sideways so that employees build confidence having challenging conversations.
  • Real-time practice and workshopping of feedback and coaching conversations.

Workshop Style:

  • Sessions are experiential with a mix of skill-training and facilitated exercises through large and small group learning.
  • All participants will have an opportunity to practice and implement the formulas and frameworks with their peers using a real-life scenario and receive one-on-one coaching from Erin.
  • Workshops can be in-person or virtual, with full and half-day versions available.
